Prototypes production

Prototyping

What would development be without prototypes? We’re not that far away from printing the products we develop. We stick to traditional processes, i.e. machining and assembly. Most of the pieces produced are for our customers. We use some of the prototype parts for our own design verification – functional properties and durability.

Machining

For machining we use a 5-axis DMG Mori centre. The workshop is well equipped with accessories (handling, tool changing, etc.). From the first full material samples, to a few pieces of arms for Ferrari, to hundreds of pieces in pre-production – the skills of our machining experts are great! Rotating parts – especially pins – are also required from external companies, as are surface finishes.

3D measurement
and scanning

Whether it is forgings, castings or plastic parts, their shape is usually verified by 3D scanning. On the other hand, we measure workpieces and assemblies on a classic 3D touch screen.

Assembly

THK’s know-how in chassis components lies primarily in the properties and durability of the joints. The first pieces are assembled by hand in our prototype workshop. The first stage is the assembly of the joint, followed by the finishing (silentblocks, cuffs and other elements). The prototype team also handles final inspection, customer documentation, packaging and shipping.
